The Blood of Jesus Saves

In Exodus 12, the Lord gives clear instructions to Moses, to tell the people of Israel to apply the blood of a spotless lamb (symbolic of our Lord Jesus) on the lintels of their houses. So that night, when the angel of death passes by, and looks at the blood on the lintels, the angel will leave or "passover" the people belonging to that household, leaving them unharmed because of the blood applied on the lintels. On the other hand, if there is no blood, then the angel of death will smite the firstborn of that particular house.

Let us consider a Jewish household on that night, with the blood applied, but the people inside the house are scared of the angel, or low on faith, paranoid, anxious, worried, etc. Would the angel cause any harm to them? Certainly not, because the people are protected, not because of their works, or how their emotions are at that moment, but because of the blood on the lintels. In other words, the people belonging to that household are simply worrying for no reason, as they are safe because of the blood.

On the other hand, consider an Egyptian household, with no blood applied. Even if the people belonging to that household scoff and make remarks saying that this is just something silly, and nothing will happen to them, when the angel of death passes by, and sees no blood on the house, the firstborn of that house will die. Which is exactly what happened in Egypt that night, where the firstborn of every Egyptian died, when the angel of death passed by, and saw no blood. Apostle Paul said:

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" - 1 Corinthians 3:16

As believers in Jesus, the Bible calls our body, as a house, as the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are covered by the precious Blood of our Lord Jesus. Our worrying, anxiety, paranoia, etc., will not make any difference, as our salvation is secure in Christ, because of His Blood on us. When we believe in the "Gospel" which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. The Bible says:

"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" - Ephesians 4:30

When a package is sealed, nothing from the outside can get in, and nothing from the inside can get out. In other words, when we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, He does not leave us. Whereas, back in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come upon a person and leave. This is the reason, when King David had committed adultery with Bathsheba, he had pleaded with the Lord saying "take not thy Holy Spirit from me" (Psalm 51:11) as he was anointed as the king of Israel by prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 16:13). In the New Testament, the moment a person is sealed with the Holy Spirit, He (Holy Spirit) never leaves. Even when we sin, He never leaves us, hence Apostle Paul said "not to grieve the Holy Spirit". This is the reason Jesus said:

"...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" - Hebrews 13:5

He is constantly guiding us, through His Spirit, from within us. As believers in Christ, since we are covered by the Blood of Jesus, the Lord is responsible for us, which includes our health, our career, our family, our everyday needs, etc. Our worrying will not make any difference because, we are under His precious Blood, and it is the Blood of Jesus that saves us. The Bible says:

"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" - Colossians 1:14

Because we believe in the Blood shed Gospel of Jesus, we are saved by His Blood because of His Grace, and hence we become grafted into the Body of Christ, which is the Church. Since we are the children of the Lord, He is responsible for us. For this reason Apostle Paul said:

"For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" - Philippians 1:5-6

One thing God cannot do is, He cannot look at our sins through the Blood of His only Begotten Son, hence He proclaims us justified in Jesus. Once we are under the Blood of Christ, we do not come under judgement, as our sins were judged in Jesus's body when He hung on the cross. God the Father will never judge us twice, as He was pleased with His Son's once for all sacrifice for us on the cross. It is because of His Blood, today we have access to the abundant blessings of the Lord. He is the author and the finisher. The Bible says:

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" - Hebrews 12:2

This is a clear picture of salvation, not being of our own works, but through the finished work of Jesus on the cross, and it is purely by Grace. "Grace is undeserved and unmerited favor of God". During the time of Abraham, the law (Ten Commandments) was not given, hence Abraham was not under the law, but under Grace. During this time, the Lord declared Abraham righteous even before Issac was born, in Genesis 15:6 when he had faith in the Lord's Word. Many people think that the Lord pronounced Abraham righteous, when he obeyed the Lord and tried to sacrifice his son Issac on an altar in Genesis 21. This event took place much later, after the Lord pronounced Abraham righteous. Similarly today, the Lord pronounces us righteous in Christ, when we place our faith on the Blood of Jesus, by believing in the Blood shed Gospel of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. It is because of the Blood of Christ, today we have access to all of the Lord's blessings which we can boldly ask.
