If you're new to the faith, or want to know God's Word but aren't sure where to begin, start with the Gospel of John (בשורה של יוחנן) — it is especially "grace-oriented." The entire Bible is written for all of us to know and enjoy God's Word, but John's Gospel stands in a class of its own. It's the only Gospel that records Roman soldiers falling to the ground when they came to arrest Jesus, simply because He said, "I am he" (אני הוא) (John 18:6) — the very name "I AM" that God gave Moses (מושה) at their first encounter. This shows that Jesus was not taken by force; He willingly gave Himself up for us, even though His word (הדבר) alone held the power to lay an entire Roman battalion flat on the ground.

John's Gospel is also the only one that records Jesus (ישוע) speaking of the church as His "other sheep" (John 10:16), affirming that He Himself shepherds every believer. This Gospel was written by the apostle who leaned on the Lord's love — who rested on Jesus's heart and listened to the heartbeat of heaven.
